The University of Strathclyde, Department of Modern Languages will be providing information advice and guidance on its own programmes and those of the Language Education Department, English Language Teaching Division, Centre for Lifelong Learning and Languages for Business Unit. The focus will be on the Certificate in Applied Language Study (CALS), an innovative work-based programme which allows trainees taking an SVQ/NVQ or Modern Apprenticeship to gain a degree level qualification in French, Italian or Spanish whilst achieving certification of their language skills at level 4 of the National Language Standards 2005. CALS has been developed with support from the European Social Fund through the COOL Development Partnership of the ESF/EQUAL programme.
