The Institut Ramon Llull's mission is to promote Catalan language and culture internationally, in all of its variations and methods of expression. The IRL carries out its activities in the Language, Creation and Humanities and Sciences areas. The Language Department promotes the presence, study and knowledge of the Catalan language, and its situation, in universities and other centres of learning around the world. Furthermore, it provides linguistic and teaching resources necessary to study the Catalan language, it promotes the training of teachers specialised in the teaching of Catalan as a second language, and it holds and administers the examinations in Catalan beyond the Catalan-speaking domain.
